Real and transparent prices
One of the topics that generates the most confusion and anxiety in patients considering dental implants is price. It is common to find enormous variation across the Colombian market, and that variation has reasons worth understanding before you decide.
What determines the price of an implant?
- The brand and quality of the implant: Straumann Group systems (Straumann and Neodent), which are the ones I use in my practice, cost far more to acquire than unknown brands or systems with weaker clinical evidence.
- The training of the professional: a specialist in oral rehabilitation or implantology with postgraduate training charges differently than a general dentist.
- The complexity of the case: a case requiring a bone graft, a maxillary sinus lift or multiple implants carries significant additional costs.
- The material of the definitive prosthesis: a crown or a full-arch prosthesis in zirconia costs more than metal-ceramic or acrylic.
Price ranges in Medellín (2026)
- Complete single implant (implant + abutment + definitive crown): USD $1,500 to $2,100. The standard case is COP $6,000,000, that is COP $3,000,000 for the implant and COP $3,000,000 for the zirconia crown on the implant.
- Overdenture on 2 implants (removable prosthesis stabilized on implants): USD $4,000 to $5,500
- All-on-4 per arch (4 implants + fixed screw-retained prosthesis): from USD $10,000 with a definitive hybrid acrylic prosthesis and from $13,000 in zirconia, up to about $16,000 for the top option, a titanium framework with individual crowns.
- All-on-6 per arch (6 implants + fixed prosthesis): from USD $14,000. It costs more than All-on-4 because six implants usually mean more bone grafting and more abutments and components, for both the temporary and the definitive prosthesis.
- Zygomatic implants with fixed zirconia prosthesis: USD $16,000 to $25,000
- Zirconia crown (per tooth, premium laboratory): USD $500 to $900
- Maxillary sinus lift (bone graft, per side): USD $900 to $1,500
- Dental evaluation: COP $150,000, or COP $350,000 including a complete dental cleaning. Diagnostic imaging is not included.
Note: these values are approximate and for reference. The exact figure for your treatment depends on the clinical assessment, the treatment option and the material chosen, and is confirmed in writing at your evaluation.

Why is Colombia so competitive against other countries?
For comparison, in the United States a complete single implant ranges from USD $3,500 to $6,000. In Spain, from EUR 1,500 to 3,000. In Colombia, with equivalent materials and first-rate specialists, the same treatment can cost up to three times less. This is not because quality is inferior, but because operating costs (rent, laboratory, staff) are far lower in Colombia than in developed markets. If you are comparing from abroad, my guide to dental implants in Colombia for US patients explains how the whole treatment is planned before you travel.
What a quote must always include
When you receive an implant quote, make sure it includes: the diagnostic consultation and CBCT scan where applicable, the implant and all its components (abutment, screw), the surgery and anesthesia, the immediate post-operative reviews, and the definitive crown or prosthesis. A quote that only covers the "implant" without the crown can be misleading.
Frequently asked questions
▸How much does a dental implant cost in Colombia in 2026?
A single dental implant in Colombia (titanium or zirconia plus the definitive crown) costs between $1,500 and $2,100 USD in 2026. The standard case is COP $6,000,000: COP $3,000,000 for the implant and COP $3,000,000 for the zirconia crown on the implant. The price depends on the clinical assessment (bone condition), the implant system and the crown material, and on the specialist. In Medellín, with Dr. Carolina Macareno, this range includes 3D digital planning and the official warranty.
▸How much does an All-on-4 cost in Colombia?
All-on-4 per arch in Colombia costs from $10,000 USD in 2026, depending on the material of the definitive prosthesis (a definitive hybrid acrylic prosthesis from $10,000 and zirconia from $13,000). It includes the 4 titanium implants, the surgery, digital planning and the fixed prosthesis. That is roughly 65% less than in the United States, where the same procedure costs $25,000 to $35,000.
▸Why are implants cheaper in Colombia than in the USA?
Implants in Colombia are up to 65 to 70% cheaper than in the USA for three reasons: (1) lower clinic operating costs, (2) professional fees calibrated to the local market rather than the American one, and (3) a favorable USD to COP exchange rate. The materials used are the same (Straumann, Neodent). Clinical quality is equivalent to any premium American practice.
▸What does the price of a dental implant include?
A properly quoted dental implant should include: (1) the diagnostic consultation with panoramic radiograph and 3D scan, (2) the implant itself (titanium or zirconia screw), (3) the placement surgery, (4) the healing abutment, (5) the custom definitive crown, and (6) post-operative check-ups. If you are quoted a much lower price, verify which components are excluded, as the crown is often charged separately.
▸Do you accept financing for dental implants?
Yes. We accept all credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), contactless payment, PSE and bank transfer. For international patients, payment can be made in US dollars or Colombian pesos through a secure transfer to an account in the United States or in Colombia.
