Maxillofacial Surgery in Medellín
Oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures performed by a specialist integrated in our team. From third molar extractions to orthognathic surgery, coordinated with Dr. Macareno's rehabilitation plan.
How much does maxillofacial surgery cost in Medellín?
The cost of oral and maxillofacial surgery in Medellín depends on the procedure: a wisdom-tooth extraction does not cost the same as orthognathic surgery or a bone graft prior to implants. The type of anesthesia (local, sedation or general) also matters. At your assessment with imaging diagnosis you receive the plan and the exact price.

Frequently asked questions
▸Is it necessary to remove wisdom teeth?
Not always. Wisdom teeth should be removed when they don't have enough room to erupt properly (impacted), when they cause pain, recurrent infections, damage to the neighboring tooth or cysts. If they are well positioned and cause no problems, they can be kept.
▸What is orthognathic surgery?
It is a surgery that repositions the bones of the upper jaw and/or the mandible to correct skeletal discrepancies that cannot be solved with orthodontics alone. It improves chewing function, the facial profile and can relieve sleep apnea problems.
▸How long is recovery from oral surgery?
It depends on the procedure. A simple extraction requires 2-3 days of recovery. A surgical extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth, 5-7 days. Orthognathic surgery may require 2-4 weeks of initial recovery and months of follow-up.
▸Is maxillofacial surgery done under general anesthesia?
It depends on the procedure. Simple extractions and minor procedures are done under local anesthesia. More complex procedures such as orthognathic surgery or multiple extractions are done under conscious sedation or general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist.
